Specimen Collection Requirements: | Lithium Heparin Whole Blood or 2 dry lithium heparin syringes Do not centrifuge tube. Minimum sample 300 µL Lithium Heparin Whole Blood VHF chemistry panels (WBCMP, CHEM8+ and WBLPP), blood gases, ionized calcium, lactate, BHCG and Troponin I can all be performed on 1mL lithium heparin whole blood. | ||

Additional Test Information: | If Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) or other viral hemorrhagic fever (VHF) is suspected, the ordering physician MUST contact the local zone Medical Officer of Health by the fastest means possible. ANY and ALL laboratory testing for patients with suspected EVD or VHF MUST be coordinated and approved through the local zone Medical Officer of Health. CLS staff: Refer to the VHF Documents section of the BCERP manual for enhanced safety procedures. CHEM8+ includes Sodium, Potassium, Chloride and Ionized Calcium. |
