Ordering Alert: | For those sites that routinely refer tests to Calgary zone labs, refer to Alpha-Glucosidase, T-Cell. Connect Care Users: Order Lysosomal Enzymes (LAB4043), then select the enzyme(s) to be tested. If ordering through Requisition Entry, order the individual enzyme. | ||
Collection Alert: | Newborn Metabolic Screen Blood Spot Requisition (card) is required for testing. Clearly indicate “Alpha Glucosidase” on the blood spot card. | ||
Shipping and Handling Alert: | Allow blood spots to air dry at room temperature for 3 hours before packaging for shipment. Store and ship at -20°C. Protect from moisture and condensation. If collecting whole blood, specimen must be stored and shipped at 4°C, and MUST be received by University of Alberta Hospital Laboratory (UAH) within 24 hours of time of collection. UAH lab will spot the blood once specimen is received. | ||
