Method and Interpretation of Results: | An Rh positive neonate born to an Rh Negative mother indicates the mother is eligible for RhIG, unless the mother has an immune anti-D. A positive DAT may indicate maternal antibody is bound to neonatal red blood cells. A positive DAT may also occur due to recent maternal RhIg injection. Antibody identification testing and maternal history/testing are used to determine whether a positive DAT is due to a maternal antibody implicated in hemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN). | ||||||||||
