Can be submitted as whole block, precut scrolls, or as blank unstained sections on coated slides.
Representative H&E to accompany the specimen.

Stability and Storage:

Room temperature: paraffin-embedded tissue blocks and slides

Transportation:

Transport specimen at room temperature.
Specimen must not freeze in transit.

Transport to Pathology Department at Foothills Medical Center.

Method:

Real-Time PCR

Method and Interpretation of Results:

The assay performs Real-Time PCR on genomic DNA extracted from paraffin-embedded tissue block. Presense or absence of Varicella Zoster viral DNA is determined by flourescense detection.
