| Collection Alert: | Newborn Metabolic Screen Blood Spot Requisition (card) is required for testing. Clearly indicate “Acid Lipase” on the blood spot card. | ||
| Shipping and Handling Alert: | Allow blood spots to dry minimum 3 hours at room temperature before packaging for shipment. Store and ship at 4°C. Protect from moisture and condensation. If collecting whole blood, specimen must be stored and shipped at 4°C, and MUST be received by Alberta Children’s Hospital Biochemical Genetics Laboratory (ACH) or University of Alberta Hospital Laboratory (UAH) within 24 hours of time of collection. ACH or UAH lab will spot the blood once specimen is received. | ||
