| Ordering Alert: | This test should be ordered for the investigation of a possible diagnosis of Niemann-Pick disease types A, B or C, or for the monitoring of individuals with Niemann-Pick type C disease. Alternatively, if there is a broader suspicion of a lysosomal or lipid storage disorder, with a clinical presentation that includes hepatosplenomegaly, the Hepatosplenomegaly Panel can be ordered as a Miscellaneous Test (for the investigation of cerebrotendinous xanthomatosis, Gaucher disease, and Niemann-Pick disease types A, B and C) by contacting the biochemical geneticist on-service. | ||
