Clinical Indications:

Testing is restricted to patients meeting the following criteria: metabolic bone disease, abnormal blood calcium, malabsorption syndromes (celiac disease, small intestinal surgery, anticonvulsant agents), chronic renal disease, and chronic liver disease.

Ordering Alert:

Connect Care users must answer the questions on clinical indications. For Non-Connect Care users, the Laboratory Services Vitamin D (25-Hydroxy) Requisition (albertahealthservices.ca) requisition must be complete and accompany the specimen.

Outside Alberta and 3rd Party Client Testing - Vitamin D testing criteria does NOT apply (Vitamin D specialty requisition is not required).
