| Clinical Indications: | This test is for the investigation of primary CoQ10 deficiencies ONLY. | ||
| Ordering Alert: | Test Name Alert: For Coenzyme Q10 in serum please call APL Laboratory Information Centre at 403-770-3890. This test will be reviewed for approval by Laboratory Medical or Scientific staff. This test will NOT be approved for monitoring Q10 (CoQ10) status related to statin therapy or for treatment of various degenerative conditions including Parkinson and Alzheimer disease. For any investigations unrelated to the diagnosis of primary CoQ10 deficiencies, please consult the Clinical Biochemist on call. The healthcare professional ordering this test must call the Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH) Biochemical Genetics Laboratory (403) 955-7379 or the University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) Biochemical Genetics Laboratory (780) 407-8820 at least 24 hours in advance to inform the lab of, and obtain any necessary information pertaining to, location and timing of the collection. | ||

Before collection of specimens, call ACH Biochemical Genetics lab (403) 955-7379 or UAH Biochemical Genetics lab (780) 407-8820. Collect Monday through Friday only (for rural sites, Monday through Thursday only), excluding holidays. Specimens should be collected early enough in the day to arrive in the ACH or UAH Biochemical Genetics Lab by 12:00 on day of collection. Consult with the lab if orther arrangements are necessary. | ||
