Additional Test Information: | Bladder washings should be collected before the bladder is filled with water for cystoscopic examination, otherwise the cells undergo marked alteration which makes cytologic interpretation difficult.
Bladder washing specimens are obtained at the time of cystoscopy. This collection method is useful because large numbers of cells are recovered, most of which are in a very good state of preservation. Washings for cytologic examination may be obtained at the time of gastroscopy. | ||||||||||
