| Clinical Indications: | Used to monitor the patient’s response to adalimumab (Humira) drug treatment in addition to the patient’s clinical, endoscopic and biomarker evaluation to guide the optimization of treatment. | ||
| Test Includes: | Circulating levels of the drug in serum and if clinically indicated levels of patient produced antibodies targeting the drug. | ||
| Ordering Alert: | Patients must present with a completed and signed Dynacare Next requisition. If unavailable, the patient must contact the appropriate Gastroenterology clinic before collection. Specimens may be cancelled by the lab without this requisition. This requisition must stay with the specimen. Adalimumab drug levels and antibodies are tested using a stepwise, reflex procedure. Adalimumab drug levels are tested initially and reported. The assay for anti-adalimumab antibodies will only be reported when the Adalimumab trough level is below the methodological limits of the assay. Tests are restricted to pediatricians, and gastroenterologists with a pre-arranged and approved pharmaceutical company contract. | ||
