Clinical Indications: | This test is used to monitor patients taking Infliximab for inflammatory bowel disease. | ||||||||||||||||||||
Test Includes: | Infliximab will be performed on all specimens. Infliximab total antibody results are reported as a reflex order when infliximab trough level is less than 3 µg/mL; otherwise, order requires on-call clinical biochemist consultation with specific clinical indication. | ||||||||||||||||||||
Ordering Alert: | This test is restricted to gastroenterologists and pediatricians. Connect Care users must answer the question on clinical indication. For Non-Connect Care users EITHER a completed Infliximab Level Order Form with a general laboratory requisition OR an e-Clinician requisition must accompany specimen. | ||||||||||||||||||||

Processing: | Centrifuge and aliquot 0.5 mL serum or plasma into two screw top aliquot tubes. Push cap aliquot tubes sealed with parafilm, also acceptable. For pediatric specimens, 0.25 mL is acceptable. Freeze aliquot tubes before transporting to University of Alberta Hospital. | ||||||||||||||||||||
