10 mg wet tissue (approximately one complete 1.0 mm needle biopsy)

Specimen Collection Requirements:

Place specimen in sterile container. Formalin and/or saline are NOT required.
Formalin fixed and wax embedded tissue acceptable.

NOTE: If both tissue iron and routine histology are ordered, at least two full cores are needed. Do not divide a single needle core biopsy for tissue copper/iron and routine histology. Refer to Surgical Pathology (Synonym: Liver Tissue).

Processing:

Calgary Zone: DSC Accession: Deliver specimen directly to Referrals before 15:30 Monday-Friday. If received after Referrals hours, store refrigerated.
