Cardiovascular Disease Risk Assessment (Synonym: CVD Risk Assessment, Framingham Risk Score, Lipid Panel)

Clinical Indications:

This test includes calculation of the Framingham Risk Score (FRS), the preferred dyslipidemia screening tool of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society and provides an estimate of the 10-year risk of a cardiovascular event based on the results of a lipid panel and patient history.

This order provides an enhanced lipid report (ELR) consisting of:

Lipid Panel (Cholesterol, Total; Triglycerides; HDL; LDL; Non-HDL Cholesterol)
10-year Framingham Risk Score
Statin recommendations and target lipid values based on Canadian Cardiovascular Society Dyslipidemia guidelines

Ordering Alert:

The Cardiovascular Disease Risk Assessment includes a lipid panel. Do not order a lipid panel with the CVD risk assessment.

Answer all questions in Connect Care order entry or clearly record the answers on the requisition. The patient history information is REQUIRED for calculation of the Risk Score.

If required information including patient history is not complete, results will only be reported for tests included in a lipid panel.
