Additional Test Information:	Yeast are detected as part of routine bacterial culture. Refer to test pages appropriate to specimen source/type. Dedicated testing for yeast is performed for the following specific conditions: Vulvovaginal Candidiasis Molecular Vaginitis Screen, which detects common Candida species, is the routine test method for detection of yeast in vaginal specimens. Refer to Vaginitis Screen for test information. Culture and yeast susceptibility testing is performed only if history of azole-refractory candidiasis/treatment failure is provided. Oral Candidiasis/Esophageal Candidiasis Oral/Mouth swabs and esophageal brush specimens are routinely screened only for yeast by microscopy and/or culture.
