Interpretation

Results greater than or equal to 45 ng/L

Interpretation is highly dependent on clinical presentation and patient history.
New troponin elevations are concerning and urgent assessment in an emergency department may be indicated in the appropriate clinical context.
Troponin may be elevated in conditions other than myocardial infarction
including heart failure, cardiomyopathies, myocarditis, renal failure, tachyarrhythmias, pulmonary embolism, and sepsis and even after strenuous exercise in healthy individuals.
