Stability and Storage:

Store at refrigerated temperature during collection.
Store at refrigerated temperature if delay in analysis.

Processing:

Mix well and aliquot into appropriate aliquot container.

Transportation:

For sites sending specimens to Calgary DSC:

Calgary and area PSCs: Transport at ambient temperature.
All other sites: Transport at refrigerated temperature.

For sites sending specimens to Edmonton Base Lab:

Transport at refrigerated temperature.

For sites sending specimens to Grande Prairie Regional Hospital:

If specimen will arrive at testing location within 2 hours, transport at ambient temperature.
If specimen will not arrive at testing location within 2 hours, transport at refrigerated temperature.

For sites sending to Red Deer Regional Hospital:

Transport at ambient temperature.

An eGFR less than 60 mL/min/1.73 m2 or urine albumin/creatinine ratio greater than or equal to 3.00 mg/mmol for more than 3 months suggests chronic kidney disease.
