Test Name/Synonym: | Tumour Cell Free DNA NGS Testing (Referred Test) (Synonym: liquid biopsy, prostate cancer, lung cancer, circulating turmor DNA (ctDNA) prostate testing)
Clinical Indications: | For investigation of metastatic and castration-resistant prostate cancer as well as lung cancers.
Collection Alert: | Unopened dedicated tubes are required for molecular testing. Restricted collection locations: see specimen collection requirements.
Shipping and Handling Alert: | Transport specimens to designated Hub lab locations (Calgary: DSC, Edmonton: UAH). Requests will be reviewed by the Edmonton Molecular Pathology lab and if approved, the Hub labs will refer specimens to Foothills Medical Centre, McCaig Tower, 7th floor, who will then forward to OncoHelix/HTL. Time sensitive: specimen must be received by OncoHelix/HTL within 7 days of collection.
LABID (Connect Care): | LAB9486
Specimen Type: | Blood | ||||
Specimen Source: | Blood
Primary Container: | 10 mL black and brown top - STRECK Cell-Free DNA BCT® (blood collection tube) and 5 mL Lavendar EDTA collection tube (EDTA tube is only required for prostate cancer requests)
Minimum Collection Volume: | STRECK: 20.0 mL EDTA: 5.0 mL (EDTA tube is only required for prostate cancer requests)
Specimen Collection Requirements: | Collect two full STRECK Cell-Free DNA blood collection tubes and also collect one full lavendar EDTA blood collection tube (EDTA tube is only required for prostate cancer requests). When using a winged blood collection set (butterfly needle) a discard tube must be used if only a Streck Cell-Free DNA blood collection tube is drawn or is the first tube drawn. Order of draw: after the EDTA tube and before the fluoride oxalate tube. Each tube must be full. Collection can only occur at one of the following collection sites:
