Ordering Alert: | Note to ordering physician: This test will be reviewed for approval by Laboratory Medical or Scientific staff. This is ONLY for a follow up of a positive Galactosemia Screen. This test is not appropriate for monitoring of patients with an established diagnosis of galactosemia on dietary therapy. For the monitoring galactosemia in a patient, please order Galactose-1-Phosphate (Referred Test) | ||
Collection Alert: | Lavender EDTA whole blood is the only acceptable collection tube. Place whole blood on ice immediately after collection. | ||
Shipping and Handling Alert: | Transport Specimen to testing area immediatley. Specimen must be received at referral lab within 72 hours of collection. | ||
