Specimen Collection Requirements:

5-7 mL LAVENDER EDTA, 2 mL acceptable for infants
Minimum 2 mL BAL in sterile containers
1 mL CSF
Autopsy material, biopsy material submitted in sterile container
2 mL bone marrow aspirate minimum in LAVENDER EDTA
Minimum 2 mL urine (only available for congenital infection testing)

Additional Test Information:

Testing is only available for transplant recipients and the immunodeficient population, and to test for congenital CMV infection. It may also be performed on throat swabs on children <18 months of age in transplant scenarios (Cytomegalovirus (CMV) NAT, HOPE Donor; LAB38012).

If testing was cancelled due to insufficient volume and recollecting a sufficient volume is not possible, contact the Public Health Lab (ProvLab) Microbiologist On-Call to discuss testing options.
