Test Name/Synonym:	COVID-19 and Influenza Virus NAT Panel (Synonym: Flu A/B, Flu PCR, SARS-CoV-2)
Pathogen:	SARS-CoV-2 Influenzae A and Influenza B
Clinical Indications:	This test is done for community patients or acute care outpatient clinics where influenza and or SARS-CoV-2 testing only is requested. If Respiratory Pathogen Panel is required only order RPP as it tests for all these pathogens.
Ordering Alert:	Do not send patients to outpatient collection sites or patient service centres if suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19, Influenza or another respiratory virus.

Specimen Collection Requirements:	Nasopharyngeal (NP) swab in Viral Transport Medium (VTM) or Universal Transport Medium (UTM) Nasopharyngeal aspirate in sterile container Endotracheal aspirate in sterile container Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) or bronchoalveolar wash in sterile container Throat swab in VTM or UTM (not preferred over NP swab or aspirate)
Stability and Storage:	Refrigerated (preferred): 7 days Room temperature: 2 days
Transportation:	Ship to the laboratory within 48 hours of collection Ship specimens from suspected COVID-19 patients to the laboratory using routine procedures
Routine Turn Around Time:	48 hours
