Specimen Collection Requirements: | Submit stool specimen in a sterile container. H.pylori Stool Antigen Test requires a separate sterile collection container and requisition General Laboratory Requisition 23102; this test cannot be combined with other stool testing. ![]() Refer to Patient Collection Instructions:Collecting Stool Samples for Helicobacter pylori Antigen Test. MI6176 Note the following groups of medication should not be used for the period indicated before collecting the specimen for the Helicobacter pylori antigen test:

Processing: | Calgary area RRL and PSC sites Deliver specimen and requisition to the laboratory within 8 hours of collection. If delivery to the laboratory is delayed, refrigerate specimen and deliver to the laboratory within 24 hours. CRL and Extra Regional Sites If the sample can be transported to Calgary Microbiology within 48 hours of collection, refrigerate and sent via regular courier on an ice pack If the sample cannot be transported to Calgary Microbiology within 48 hours of collection, it must be frozen (-20 ºC). Do not ship samples until completely frozen. Avoid freeze thaw cycles. Leaking sample containers will NOT be accepted. Extremely hard stool specimens cannot not be processed and will be cancelled. | ||
