| Specimen Collection Requirements: | Acceptable specimens include: liver, lung, abdominal aspirates/fluid. Submit specimen in a sterile container. | ||
| Processing: | Store specimen at room temperature. DO NOT refrigerate. Transport STAT to hospital laboratory to ensure specimen is received within 15 minutes from collection. All aspirates for ova and parasite examination MUST be received in Microbiology at the Diagnostic and Scientific Centre (DSC) within 1 hour of receipt in the hospital laboratory. | ||
