Specimen Collection Requirements: | Hospital sites in Calgary and Edmonton , Grande Prairie, Red Deer, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat: Refer to Lymphoma Protocol - Client Resource. See "Test Resources" for link. For Rural Suburban Centres that do not have Pathology Departments: Collection sites/clinics/programs outside of the above hospital sites should continue to submit samples in formalin only. The clinician is responsible for ensuring that the entire specimen is placed into an appropriately labelled container with formalin and is submitted to the laboratory. No fresh tissue is submitted. Calgary Clinics and Rural sites: Contact Anatomical Pathology (during normal hours) or pathologist on-call (after hours) prior to doing a biopsy. Calgary Rural sites only:

Stability and Storage: | Transport specimen to Laboratory immediately
Calgary Zone: Calgary Clinics: Send specimen STAT on ice | ||||||||||
Transportation: | Forward to the Anatomical Pathology Laboratory immediately.
Calgary Zone: Calgary Clinics: Contact APL courier and request a STAT delivery. See “Contact Comments”. South Zone: Chinook Regional Hospital (CRH): Tissue must be received in the lab by 1100 to ensure same day delivery to Calgary Zone. Medicine Hat Regional Hospital (MHRH): Tissue must be received in the lab by 1000 to ensure same day delivery to Calgary Zone. | ||||||||||
