Specimen Requirements:For Blood and Bone Marrow Samples: Unopened dedicated tubes are required for Molecular Pathology testing.
Collect 1 x 4 mL sodium heparin (green) tube - no plasma separator.

For Parafin-Embedded Tissue:
1. A formalin-fixed, parafin-embedded tissue block is preferred.
2. Alternatively, one slide stained with Hematoxylin & Eosin as well as six 4- micron baked (2 hours at 60°C) unstained charged slides can be submitted.
3. Please provide a copy of the corresponding pathology report.
Specimen Processing:Do not spin.
Do not freeze.
Keep at room temperature.
Specimen Handling:Sodium heparin samples must be received within 48 hours of collection.
On Fridays, samples must arrive prior to 1200H.
Additional Information:Molecular Pathology assesses sample integrity and pre-analytical processes for formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues.
Analytical testing is performed in Cytogenetics.
Requisition/Form:All requests MUST be submitted on a Molecular Pathology Requisition.
Please provide any pertinent clinical history on the requisition.
Indications:For the investigation of mantle cell lymphoma.
