Specimen Requirements:
Collect a blood specimen in the required tube at each time interval post infusion:
  • 5 minutes
  • 1 hour
  • 3 hours
  • 5 hours
  • 7 hours
  •  
    Min. Sample Required:1 mL plasma for each timed collection
     
    Specimen Processing:Immediately after specimen collection, centrifuge blood specimen at 10oC for 10 minutes.
    Transfer plasma into a plastic aliquot tube.
    Write Na Hep plasma on the aliquot tube label.
    Freeze aliquot at -20oC.

    Repeat this procedure for each (5 in total) blood specimen.
     
    Specimen Handling:Package all 5 plasma specimens and ship frozen.
     
    Additional Information:Call Pharmacokinetics Laboratory 403-521-3442 in advance of collection.
     
    Requisition/Form:Direct order through SCM.
     
    Order Restrictions:Can be ordered only by Bone Marrow Transplant Unit Physician.
     
    Indications:Patients undergoing stem cell transplantation and on Busulfan therapy protocol.
