For Cytogenetics North at UAHFor Cytogenetics South at ACH
The collection of the chorionic villi is only performed at the Perinatal Clinic, Royal Alexandra Hospital and submitted in a CVS transport media tube for testing. The collection of the chorionic villi is only performed at the Maternal Fetal Medicine Center, EFW Radiology and submitted in a CVS transport media tube for testing.

In addition, it is recommended that at the time of submission of the chorionic villi, a blood sample on each
parent should be collected and forwarded to the laboratory for possible parental studies.
Refer to Requisition/Forms section for details.

Min. Sample Required:Adequate amount of chorionic villi sampling to generate 15 mg minimum of typical villi after cleaning.
If request includes CMA and additional Molecular testing, 25 mg minimum of typical villi after cleaning.

Specimen Processing:DO NOT spin. DO NOT aliquot.
Specimen MUST remain at room temperature.

Additional Information:To order CVS transport media tubes contact the Cytogenetics North (UAH) Laboratory (780-407-1542) or Cytogenetics South (ACH) Laboratory (403-955-2886).

Any CVS sample arriving with a request for only CMA testing, will have pre-analytical Rapid Aneuploidy Detection (RAD) testing as well as Karyotype testing added.

RAD testing is performed and reported by the UAH Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory for the North, and by the ACH Cytogenetics Laboratory in the South.

Requisition/Form:All requests MUST be submitted on a Chromosomal Microarray (CMA) requisition form.
Ensure all sections of the requisition are complete.
