Preferred Tube/Container:Plastic 4.5 mL Lithium Heparin PST Gel (LIGHT GREEN)
Alternate:Plastic 5 mL SST Gel No Additive (GOLD)
 
Specimen Requirements:Collect at least 2 mL of sample.
 
Min. Sample Required:200 uL plasma or serum
 
Specimen Processing:Spin, separate and freeze plasma (or serum) within one hour of collection.
 
Specimen Handling:Ship frozen.
 
Requisition/Form:Submit request using Chemistry Specialty Requisition
Please ensure all required information, including patient's clinical history/indication is complete on the requisition.
 
Indications:For the diagnosis of biotinidase deficiency.
Reference Interval:
Partial deficiency  1.1 – 3.6 IU/L
