Specimen Processing:Spin and separate serum into plastic transport tube.
Store refrigerated.
Specimen Handling:Transport at refrigerated temperature.
Requisition/Form:A Edmonton Zone - Maternal Serum Screen Requisition MUST accompany specimen.
Please ensure that all requested information is completed.
Order Restrictions:1. FTPS is done at 11 weeks, 2 days - 13 weeks, 6 days gestation. Acceptable CRL range 45.0 - 80.9mm.
2. A nuchal translucency (NT) ultrasound is required and must be performed by an individual certified by the
    Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) to obtain NT measurements. The NT ultrasound is required on the same
    day, before the blood work is collected.
Indications:Includes pregnancy associated plasma protein A (PAPP-A) and free B hCG to estimate risk of trisomy 21 (Down sydrome), trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome), and trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome).
Reference Interval:Reference values depend on gestational age.
Reference intervals are provided on final report.
