Spiritual health consultants are discipline specific advanced practitioners who are program based. They provide similar services to a spiritual health practitioner but also participates in program, service and zone quality improvement and evaluation specific to advanced level direct service delivery as well as knowledge translation for their clinical area.
As a discipline specific advanced practice role, the spiritual health consultant provides clinical guidance, consultation on complex cases, coaching and mentoring in the area of advanced level direct service delivery to staff, students, colleagues within and outside the discipline to ensure the delivery of evidence informed services within program parameters and in adherence with Alberta Health Services (AHS) and other relevant legislation, standards, guidelines, policies and procedures across a team, site or program.
The spiritual health consultant role also supports, informs and translates leading practices in the assigned population, clinical area or team(s). Spiritual health consultants also advise managers in clinical decision-making, professional development and resource needs in relation to the patient population.
