A shared purpose

What Matters Most to Me:

  • That the patient is at the heart of all the work we do at AHS.
  • That the staff feel valued and are cared for with respect and dignity.
  • That the Quality projects I help move forward with my teams incorporate these values as we move forward.

I am a mother of two teenagers and have been married for 24 years. My husband was diagnosed with as Multiple Sclerosis 17 years ago, and is now in a wheelchair. Prior to my role as a Quality Improvement Consultant for the South Zone IQM team, I was a patient advisor for five years with the Provincial Patient and Family Advisory board as well as an advisor within the South Zone.

I became a patient advisor as I felt that my experiences as a family member of someone with a chronic condition could be valuable in demonstrating a shared purpose and the importance of collaboration for patient and staff care. I continue to feel that way.
