Community Rehabilitation Interdisciplinary Service

Provides assessment and treatment for clients with complex medical conditions benefiting from a short term, time-limited, active rehabilitation program.

The Community Rehabilitation Interdisciplinary Service (CRIS) provides assessment and treatment for adults with complex medical conditions through two specialized programs: the Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Program and the Edema Program. Both programs offer client-centered, time-limited rehabilitation services to optimize function and support self-management.

  • CRIS Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Program provides assessment and treatment for clients with complex medical conditions requiring short-term, active rehabilitation program.
  • CRIS Edema Program offers specialized services for individuals with complex non-cancer-related lymphedema.

occupational therapists (OTs), physical therapists (PTs), recreation therapists, rehabilitation assistants, social workers, speech language pathologists (SLPs)
Eligibility

Inclusion:
Age 18+ and resides in Edmonton Zone
New functional need requiring short-term ambulatory rehab not available through public services
Motivated to set functional goals, requires OT or SLP involvement
Medically, psychologically, and cognitively ready for light to moderate rehab
Independent (or supported) for medical, bowel / bladder care, mobility, and transportation
Exclusion Criteria:
Needs related to WCB or MVA (within 2 years)
Resides in Continuing Care
Requires only PT, Social Work, or Recreation Therapy
Needs tertiary/specialized services or no longer meets inclusion criteria
Additional CRIS Edema (Lymphedema) Eligibility:
Edmonton Zone resident
Physician or NP referral, EXCLUDED -WCB / MVA-related lymphedema
Non-cancer-related lymphedema
Medically stable, cleared for compression, and committed to daily use

Edema Services can only be accessed through the Mother Rosalie Health Services Centre location with a health care provider referral. Call the referral information number to request referral information. Telephone and virtual services (via Zoom) are available for individual and group intervention.
