Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Clinic

The Edmonton ALS Clinic provides specialized, multidisciplinary care for individuals with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other motor neuron diseases (e.g., Primary Lateral Sclerosis, Kennedy's disease.)

Provides assessment and follow-up care to assist patients diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and other motor neuron disorders. Diagnoses, educates, treats and offers rehabilitation. Also involved with research.

Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team which may include: Neurology, Respirology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Dietetics, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Social Work.

Services include:
• Confirmation of diagnosis
• Ongoing disease monitoring and management from full team
• Patient and family education and counselling
• Respiratory, nutritional, swallowing, communication, and mobility assessment
• Coordination with community services and home care
• Telephone consultation and support for patients and referring providers

Clinics are run at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic at 8:00 AM-4:15 PM and at the Misericordia Hospital at 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM.
