Central Alberta Sexual Assault Response Team

Offering patients who have experienced sexual assault a compassionate, confidential and non-judgmental care by sexual assault nurse examiners, with specialized education in sexual assault care.

Providing forensic examinations within 7 days of the assault. The examiner will:

  • coordinate medical treatment
  • provide forensic examinations
  • coordinate police involvment as per the patient's wishes
  • refer for counselling and follow up

Patients aged 11 and younger will be referred to the Sexual Assualt ResponseTeam Pediatrician available through the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre's Emergency Department.

Eligibility

Available to patients who have experienced a sexual assault.

Service Access

A SART nurse is available 24/7, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Emergency Department, ask to speak to the on-call SART nurse to discuss options of care and locations of service.
Patients may also present directly to the Red Deer Regional Hospital Emergency and be connected to the SART team.
