Autism Spectrum Disorder Diagnostic Clinic

The Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Diagnostic Clinic provides diagnostic assessment and consultation services for pediatric patients with a question of Autism Spectrum Disorder.

This service provides tertiary level diagnostic assessment for patients who require expertise beyond their community healthcare providers for patients 1 to 17 years, 6 months of age.

After the diagnostic question is answered, the referring physician or primary care provider will provide ongoing care.

We do not provide assessment, diagnosis, or treatment for other mental health disorders or other neurodevelopmental conditions.

Eligibility

Children / youth must be 17 years 6 months of age or younger at the time of referral to ensure adequate time to complete assessment before 18 years of age.

Children who reside in the geographical Calgary Zone and Southern Alberta including Strathmore, Canmore / Banff, High River, Drumheller and surrounding areas. If the local area has an assessment centre (such as Lethbridge and Medicine Hat) referrals should be sent to those locations.

The referral source must provide evidence that a tertiary level assessment is required. Evidence must include a current physician consult/clinic note and at least one but not limited to the following: physician observations of the child / youth, completed questionnaires (e.g. M-CHAT or M-CHAT revised), community speech/language reports or consultation notes, occupational therapy reports or consultation notes and psychology assessment reports, daycare/preschool/school information.
