Sexually Transmitted and Blood-Borne Infection Services
Sexually Transmitted and Blood-Borne Infection (STBBI) services that provide prevention, education, testing, treatment, and wraparound supports for individuals living with or at risk of STBBIs.The interdisciplinary STBBI team collaborates to deliver comprehensive prevention, awareness, testing, treatment, education, and support services for individuals living with or at risk of sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs). Services are primarily delivered through outreach-based approaches designed to reduce barriers to care, promote early intervention, and support overall health and well-being.
Outreach services include:
- Engaging and building relationships with individuals who may be participating in behaviours that increase their risk of acquiring or transmitting STBBIs.
- Supporting access to frequent, low-barrier STBBI screening and testing services.
- Providing STBBI-related interventions, including education, assessment, case management, medication support, and follow-up care.
- Increasing knowledge of STBBI prevention, transmission, and personal risk factors through health education and awareness activities.
- Connecting individuals to safer sex and disease prevention supplies.
- Assisting individuals with system navigation and access to social supports, including referrals to treatment, recovery, and other community-based services.
- Providing emotional support and facilitating referrals to crisis intervention and mental health services.
- Connecting individuals with medical care, basic needs supports, and other resources that promote health and well-being.
