The psychosocial stream assesses the impact of sexual abuse, severe and complex physical abuse and / or neglect on the referred child / youth, and provides therapeutic intervention to address emotional, behavioral and relational challenges associated with the abuse and neglect for children and youth, 4-18 years of age. The Child Abuse Psychosocial Stream assesses the impact of sexual abuse, severe and complex physical abuse and / or neglect on the referred child / youth, and provides therapeutic intervention to address emotional, behavioural and relational challenges associate with the abuse and neglect.
The Child Abuse Service also provides assessment and treatment to children under the age of 14 who are exhibiting problematic sexual behaviour.
Terms of Reference:
Severe and Complex refers to:Physical abuse that caused injuries, involved the use of objects, or required the involvement of law enforcement or medical professionals; or neglect in which there was chronic deprivation of basic physical needs over a sustained period, that necessitated Children and Family Services involvment.
