Pediatric Consultation & Liaison Psychiatry Team

The PCLP Team provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment for children at the Stollery Children's hospital who are experiencing co-occurring physical and psychiatric symptoms.

Services focus on reducing distress related to underlying psychiatric concerns and supporting coping with acute or chronic illness through assessment, possible medication management, and psychosocial and/or behavioral interventions.

Reasons for a PCLP Consult:

  • Emotional distress and/or psychiatric symptoms in medically ill children
  • Transplant assessments
  • Somatization
  • Delerium
  • Trauma/stress response
  • Psychiatric illness requiring immediate medication changes or opinion regarding inpatient psychiatric admission
