Cardiac Rehabilitation - Alberta Healthy Living Program

Cardiac rehabilitation offers group and 1-1 cardiac education and support to improve cardiovascular health.

Offers teaching and supports for patients and families to understand how best to lead an active and healthy lifestyle through focusing on diet, supervised exercise sessions, and other cardiovascular risk reduction activities.

Provides teaching and follow-up to people with a history of heart problems, including:

  • myocardial infarction (MI)
  • acute coronary syndrome (ACS)
  • coronary artery disease (CAD)
  • arrhythmias/heart failure

Also provides teaching and follow-up to people waiting for an angiogram / angioplasty, pacemaker, cardiac bypass, or valve surgery.

Offers teaching about heart disease and exercise, which includes these topics:

  • heart-smart nutrition
  • risk factors
  • exercise
  • managing stress
  • heart disease and your feelings
  • understanding your medicine
