Finding Health Care

A dementia diagnosis can be an overwhelming experience for both patients and their families. Dementia Advice through Health Link, helps ease the stress by providing compassionate advice about living with dementia.

Dementia Advice can:

  • Listen to YOUR story
  • Suggest strategies to help manage dementia-related challenges
  • Recommend supports and assistance
  • Facilitate long term support
  • Provide self-care tips for caregivers

Since launching, province-wide, in May 2016, there have been more than 1,000 referrals supporting Albertans living with or caring for someone who has dementia, including those with Alzheimer’s disease.

Primary Care Networks (PCNs) bring local doctors and other healthcare providers like dietitians, nurse practitioners, and social workers together to provide comprehensive care to Albertans.

Health Link works with some PCNs to triage and refer people to after-hours clinics or an on-call doctor for time-sensitive healthcare needs.
