Geriatric Day Hospital

Provides a short-term assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation program for older adults who live in the community.

Provides short-term outpatient care to older adults with medical problems who are at risk of being admitted to a hospital or care centre. The program:

  • assesses, treats, and provides rehabilitation
  • develops care plans
  • tells people about community resources
  • refers to other healthcare providers or resources as needed

Access
Service Providers May Include
doctors, occupational therapists (OTs), physical therapists (PTs), psychiatrists, psychologists, recreation therapists, registered nurses (RNs), social workers, therapy aides
Eligibility

Ages 65 years and older.

Referral Needed

Direct referral service. Referral forms can be found on Carewest web site under community programs. Anyone can refer.

Wait Times

An estimated wait time will be provided at the time of appointment booking.

Fees

The only cost to the program is for Access Calgary. If this is the mode of transport then costs apply.
