Best Babies

Best Babies empowers pregnant women and new mothers to make healthy lifestyle choices by offering one on one support, nutritional counseling, social support, education and community referrals.

Best Babies Offers:

  • nutrition education and counselling
  • monthly home visits or more frequent if needed, to help support healthy choices and answer questions you may have during pregnancy
  • information on physical activity, alcohol, smoking, drugs, dental care and much more.
  • prenatal and postnatal information
  • free prenatal vitamins and vitamin D supplements for eligible participants and breastfed babies
  • free milk, eggs and orange juice or Good Food Box/Fresh Food Box for eligible participants
  • breastfeeding information, support and access to a lactation consultant.
  • connection to community services and organizations
  • access to the Good Food Box program which is a buying club for fresh fruits and vegetables that saves you money
  • community kitchen cooking groups
  • parenting groups which offer parenting information and a chance to meet other parents

Service Providers May Include

Eligibility
  •  under 20 or over 35 years of age
  • living on a limited income
  • have or had a baby weighing less than 2500 grams or 5 lbs 8 oz
  • have not gained enough weight or have gained too much weight in pregnancy
  • was underweight or overweight before becoming pregnant
  • have had difficulty eating well or eating enough during this pregnancy
  • have used alcohol, drugs or tobacco during pregnancy
  • feel lonely or afraid and need support
  • have difficulty with the English language
