Birth and Babies (Perinatal Education)

Offering evidence-based classes including early pregnancy, labour / birth, feeding newborns, infant care, early parenting, midwifery, young parents, adoptive baby care, car seat safety, health and safety, buying for baby, vaginal birth after cesarean, refresher, especially for fathers.

This program provides evidence-based client education, peer support and family-centred approaches for building capacity using adult education principles and interactive teaching led by Community Health Educators. Clients will be provided relevant anticipatory guidance and linked to appropriate community resources. Over 20 different classes are available both in person (Calgary Area) and online (anywhere in the province) including:

• Early pregnancy
• Perinatal classes spanning the end of pregnancy through early parenthood
• Prenatal classes for midwifery clients
• Prenatal Classes for young adults
• Car seat safety
• Baby health and safety
• Buying for Baby
• Sleep like a Baby
• Especially for Fathers
• Nutrition for pregnancy

All classes are based on current Primary Care Alberta, AHS and Canadian guidelines.
