Balance Class

A balance exercise and education program to help prevent falls and improve functional mobility.

A group exercise and education program for people to improve balance and functional mobility. The program format is 60 minute classes, once/week for 8 weeks. Educational material is reviewed and exercises are taught and practiced in a group session.

Eligibility

Community dwelling older adults at risk for falls or mobility loss.

To take part in the program, clients must:

  • be able to participate in a group exercise program independently
  • have had 1 or more falls in the last 6 months or had a healthcare provider say they are at a high risk for a fall
  • individuals with unstable medical conditions may not be eligible
Service Access

Clients can call to be screened for the program. An initial assessment is set up prior to start of the first class.

Bring walking or sensory aids and a list of medications to the first appointment.
