Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

To teach people with heart disease about lifestyle changes and exercises to allow them to return to a productive, healthy life.

Provides people with heart disease with individualized exercise programs, blood pressure monitoring, and electrocardiograms (ECGs).

Also offers education sessions about:

  • heart disease and risk factors
  • ways to manage stress
  • medicines
  • eating for a healthy heart
  • emotions and heart disease
  • how to conserve energy

Service Providers May Include
dietitians, doctors, occupational therapists (OTs), pharmacists, physical therapists (PTs), psychologists, registered nurses (RNs), respiratory therapists (RTs), social workers
Eligibility

May vary with the location. The program will see people who have:

  • been diagnosed with heart disease
  • had a recent heart attack (myocardial infarction or MI) without major complications
  • angina which have been stable for 1 month
  • had coronary bypass surgery
  • had angioplasty
  • not missed appointments in the past
  • a need for stress tests or other tests
  • stable congestive heart failure
