Indigenous Health and Nutrition Team

Supports Indigenous (Aboriginal) adults to lose weight or to maintain/improve their health when living with conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and other conditions.

This service provides:

  • support for Indigenous adults for weight loss
  • support for Indigenous adults to maintain/improve their health when living with health conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), arthritis, etc.
  • staff that are part of and connected to the Indigenous community
  • free classes for community organizations
  • a team of a registered dietitians who provide personalized support to their clients

Service Providers May Include

Indigenous adults (age 18+) with a condition like diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, etc., or wanting help to reduce smoking. First Nations (Status, Non-Status), Métis, and Inuit.

Service Access

Healthcare providers should consult the Alberta Referral Directory for service referral guidelines and referral forms.

For patients: Call to register.  Doctor’s referral not required (optional).
For doctors: Call to be given the program’s referral form to fax in to register a patient. The program will then call and book the client. For more information email
