Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit

The Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit is dedicated to the provision of critical care to neonates, infants, and children with an underlying cardiac abnormality that may require congenital cardiac surgery and/or medical, surgical, and mechanical support of cardiac failure.

The Stollery's Critical Care Program participates in the Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) Program which provides life saving support methods and therapies such as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) and ventricular assist device (VAD) technology.

The PCICU (Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit) is the major Western Canadian Centre for pediatric cardiac surgery and organ transplantation.

The Stollery PCICU is located on the 6th floor of the Mazankowski Heart Institute.

Getting There

Parking and Public transportation available.

  • Parking rates apply 24 hours per day, and are in effect for all public parkers, including those with provincially issued placards for persons with disabilities.
  • Public parking is GST exempt.
  • Pay by Plate machines accept Canadian coins or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express).
  • Maximum 28 Canadian coins per transaction, no pennies. Machines provide no change.
  • Pay on Foot machines accept Canadian coins and bills, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express). These machines will provide change.
  • Parking Office accepts payment by cash, credit card, debit or cheque
  • Bus stops at 112 and 114 St.
