High River Maternity Clinic

Provision of maternity care to Low Risk Obstetrical patients.

Provides care to women throughout their low risk pregancy, labour, delivery and up to 6 week post partum period.

  • uncomplicated pregnancy with no serious risk factors
  • patient must be able and willing to participate in ongoing prenatal care including attending all scheduled appointments
  • if patient develops into high risk, we will refer patient to tertiary care center for care.
  • women with pre-pregnancy BMIs of 35 to < 38 will be referred to anaesthesia for an opinion on whether it is safe to deliver them in High River.
  • c section and epidural capabilities on site

Service Providers May Include
family practice doctors, midwives, registered nurses, social workers

Patient must be in good health, with no major medical conditions and no previous major obstetrical complications. Patient must be referred by 20 weeks. Any patient with a gestational age >20 weeks will NOT be accepted. Other eligibility criteria includes:

  • no previous major uterine wall surgery
  • no patients at risk of preterm labour
  • pre-pregnancy BMI must less than 38
  • no extremes of maternal age >42 or <15

Patients can self-refer by calling the clinic. They can also see their family doctor for a referral.
