Addiction and Mental Health - Residential Treatment Services, Adult

A 48 bed short-term residential addiction treatment program for adults.

Offers an intensive residential treatment program for adults who are experiencing problems as a result of their alcohol use, other drug use, tobacco and gambling. The standard program length is 4 weeks, with some flexibility to extend the stay based on individualized client needs and recovery goals. The focus is increased understanding of addiction, self-awareness, learning and practicing healthier coping skills in a supportive environment, development of a healthy and balanced lifestyle and action plans for meeting recovery goals.

addiction counsellors, client care assistants (CCAs), licensed practical nurses, mental health therapists, recreation therapists, recreation therapy assistants, registered nurses (RNs)
Eligibility

Service targeted to:

  • adults who are experiencing problems as a result of their alcohol use, other drug use, or gambling and who wish to learn and practice healthier coping skills
  • clients who do not have acute health or mental health issues that would interfere with program participation
  • Lander is a tobacco free program. Clients who use tobacco must have a willingness to abstain from tobacco use for the duration of the program. Nicotine Replacement Therapy is provided
  • abstinence from all alcohol and other drugs is required prior to the admission date. Required length of detox time is determined during the telephone assessment interview. Individuals requiring detoxification will be referred to a detox facility

Fees

All beds at Lander Treatment Centre are publicly funded, which means Albertans with valid Alberta Health Care are not charged a fee. This includes all treatment and room and board. Inquiries from out-of-province residents will be referred to sites with fee-for-service treatment beds.
