Pre-operative assessment by a pediatric anesthesiologist includes:

• visit may be completed by Anesthesiologist in person or by virtual media (Phone)
• assessment advice may include other investigations and specialist referral
• parents/guardians will receive education around anesthesia techniques and risks and pain control options
• pediatric intensive care consultation as required
• communicate and organize specialized anesthesia requirements to the team managing care the day of surgery
• facilitate informed consent
