The goal of prenatal genetic counseling is to provide information and support to pregnant women / couples and their families who may have an increased chance of having a child with a birth defect or genetic condition.

Prenatal genetic counselors / geneticists help individuals:

• understand the medical information more clearly and support you in making personal decisions about the health of your pregnancy
• who are not pregnant but have concerns about having a child with a genetic condition, because of their own health or their family history
